McMurtrey Gallery will be featuring Sandi Seltzer Bryant’s new paintings. The exhibition will run from January 19 through February 16, 2002. Sandi Seltzer Bryant’s paintings are energetic, abstract landscapes. Heavily influenced by her eight-month stay in the Netherlands, her work reflects her interpretation of her surroundings: the canals and fields fields referencing the countryside.
Bryant’s paintings on canvas and paper are abstract representations of fields and flowers, cows and waterways, and miles of railroads, which were stimulated by her travels across Northern Europe.

The representations are captured with bold color and defined marks. Her work reflects a subtle, yet radical evolution from purely abstract images to figurative abstractions. Bryant’s use of repetitive patterns of familiar images such as tulips, waterways and railroad tracks reflect her surroundings and inspirations. Her paintings are treasures of collected memories of her stay in Northern Europe.
