Lance Letscher 2002
Collage and Drawings

"An artist of substance, grit and purpose" Mario Naves writes in his review of Lance Letscher’s first solo New York exhibition in The New York Observer April 16, 2002. He continues, " Mr. Letscher stops us in our tracks; once there we don’t want to leave".

Texas artist Lance Letscher once known for his sculpture has turned exclusively to collage and drawing. Letscher creates his collage pieces from pieces of history: book bindings, letters, diaries and old ledgers.

Combining these elements in their new incarnation Letscher creates pictures full of psychological content, density and layering and interaction of color and the ebb and flow of its intensity.

Mr. Letscher’s work can be found in a number of public and private collections including, the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston; the Archer M. Huntington Gallery; the University of Texas, Austin, Texas; and the California State University Print Collection, Long Beach, California.
